Job Purpose:  

The Proposal Writer is responsible for preparing client project proposals, including pricing, and collaborating with the Technical and Business Development colleagues. This role plays a key part in securing new business, ensuring proposals align with client needs and company strategy from lead identification to contract signature.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

Key Responsibilities
  1. Proposal Development
    • Prepare client proposals and change orders in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with business strategy and client expectations.
    • Develop accurate and competitive pricing calculations for proposals and change orders.
  2. CRM & Documentation Management
    • Maintain and update the CRM database in real time, ensuring accurate tracking of the business development process from the time when proposals are requested to signed won.
  3. Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Project Managers and Resourcing to establish project timelines that align with client and operational requirements.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and clients to facilitate communication throughout the proposal lifecycle.
  4. Process Improvement & Training
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in proposal development and pricing strategies.
    • Support training and mentoring of colleagues as required.
  5. Compliance & Administration
    • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations (H&SAW Act and COSHH) and company policies.
    • Maintain personal administrative responsibilities, including proper care of assigned IT equipment.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 1–5 years of experience in proposal writing, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industries.
Skills & Competencies
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and professionally.
  • Technical Writing: Ability to draft precise, structured, and well-referenced documents with accuracy in scientific and numerical details.
  • Software Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with CRM and SharePoint preferred.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to accuracy, consistency, and thoroughness in all documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Works effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating openness to feedback and contributing to a positive team spirit.
