Job Purpose:
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern will support MedPharm’s Information Technology department in evaluating, implementing, and expanding the use of AI-powered tools to improve operational efficiency across the organization. Over the course of a 10–12 week summer internship, the intern will work directly with the Director of IT to design and deploy AI-assisted workflows using platforms such as Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft Copilot within the M365 ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student to apply AI knowledge in a real-world business setting and meaningfully contribute to MedPharm’s digital transformation initiatives.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Research, evaluate, and pilot AI tools and automation platforms (including Claude by Anthropic and Microsoft Copilot/M365 AI) to identify use cases applicable to MedPharm business operations.
  • Design and develop AI-assisted workflows and prompt libraries to automate recurring administrative, communication, and data-handling tasks across departments.
  • Collaborate with department stakeholders to identify process pain points that AI automation could address; document use cases, requirements, and results.
  • Build and refine prompts, agents, or automation sequences within Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, and related tools.
  • Evaluate the accuracy, safety, and effectiveness of AI-generated outputs within the context of MedPharm’s quality and compliance standards.
  • Document AI implementation findings, best practices, and recommendations in a final internship report and present results to the IT team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with change management efforts related to AI tool adoption, including creating user guides and brief training materials for staff.
  • Support the IT team with other projects and tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university; open to computer science, engineering or data centric majors.
  • Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, or technology innovation.
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Microsoft Copilot preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Basic understanding of prompt engineering principles and AI tool evaluation frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills; comfortable producing documentation, guides, and presentations.
  • Self-directed, curious, and able to manage ambiguous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Prior experience with Python, Power Automate, or other scripting/automation tools is a plus but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMAND ANALYSIS
Work Environment:  Office environment, primarily computer-based work. The intern will work closely with the IT team and may engage with stakeholders across departments.
Physical Summary:  This is a sedentary, desk-based role. Physical demands are minimal and limited to routine office activity.
