Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company’s goods. 

Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in the factory.   
  • Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
  • Responsible for allocating and managing associates according to changing needs.
  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
  • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
  • Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
  • Participates as an advisory member of the laboratory team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials. 
  • Maintains a highly visible presence on the operations floor.
  • Coordinate the movement of material handling equipment and personnel to maximize efficiencies and achieve goals/standards.
  • Ensure customer orders are processed within acceptable order cycle time, Must Arrive by Dates and accuracy requirements.
  • Effectively communicate information to all levels of the operation.
  • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Operates with the highest level of customer service
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the designated department.
  • Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management.
  • Ensures safe workplace by operating under necessary guidelines
  • Ensures all quality policies are followed daily
  • Ensures financial accuracy of inventory and overhead

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required
  • 5-7 years’ Supply Chain experience required
  • 3 years’ Material Planning experience highly preferred
  • Three years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or similar relevant position required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of company products and logistics. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with NetSuite, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
