Job Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on IT Director who will play an active role in the daily operations and support of IT infrastructure across our US and UK sites. This is a “boots on the ground” position, where the ideal candidate will not only manage IT systems and processes but will also be directly involved in delivering onsite service and support. They will work closely with teams to troubleshoot issues, set up hardware, and ensure the security and efficiency of our IT systems. This role requires a proactive leader capable of managing the balance between strategic oversight and hands-on technical support.  The job summary listed is not exhaustive and may also include additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
 
Responsibilities:
  • IT Operations Management:
    • Lead and manage the IT department to ensure smooth operations, efficient service delivery, and proactive problem-solving.
    • Oversee all IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, network administration, and cyber security through monitoring and end-user awareness training.
    • Serve as the primary contact for IT-related issues across US MedPharm sites (and provide support to our UK site as required), ensuring efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution.    
  • User Support and Helpdesk Administration:
    • Provide Level 1 Help Desk support, addressing day-to-day issues related to desktops, laptops, network connectivity, and software systems.
    • Oversee user onboarding/offboarding, ensuring all systems and devices are properly configured for new hires and exits.
    • Set up and maintain AV/Conference room tech and provide basic network troubleshooting and support
  • System Administration:
    • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint, Teams, and shared drive management.
    • Oversee Empower system administration, including backups, archiving, and user management.
    • Knowledge of Active Directory/Group Policy configurations.
    • Manage IT hardware and software inventory, ensuring equipment is up-to-date, in compliance and ready for use.
  • Network and Cybersecurity:
    • Ensure the security of network infrastructure, monitoring for cyber threats, and leading proactive risk mitigation strategies.
    • Partner with external vendor(s) to manage the transition of systems from Tergus Pharma to MedPharm and support ongoing network administration across all locations.
    • Implement and oversee digital security training for end users to enhance awareness and response plan to cyber threats.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead IT architecture projects, overseeing system integrations and implementation of new technologies to meet operational needs.
    • Manage projects related to the support and administration of manufacturing systems, ensuring smooth integration with the overall IT infrastructure.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Collaborate with external vendor(s) to establish a balanced support model that leverages third-party services where appropriate, while managing costs effectively.
Qualifications:
  •  Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of IT management experience, ideally within a CDMO, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of network administration, server management (VMware), and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Teams administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Empower or similar laboratory systems administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Familiarity with the specific IT needs of manufacturing and laboratory environments preferred.
  • Experience managing external vendors for IT infrastructure support preferred.
